Project Overview
Our role was to design the space and manage the project from start to finish, coordinating the details and keeping everything moving so the customer could look forward to a smooth installation and a finished bathroom that worked beautifully day to day.
The project took around two weeks from the start of installation to completion, and the final room delivered exactly what the customer had in mind – a walk-in shower for everyday convenience, paired with a freestanding bath as a standout feature.
The Brief
The customer came to us with a clear goal: replace their existing bathroom with a new layout that included a walk-in shower and a freestanding bath, then finish the room with tiles and fittings that brought colour and character. They wanted a space that felt bright, welcoming and easy to live with.
From the outset, our focus was on striking a balance between the practical requirements and the room's aesthetic. That meant thinking carefully about the shower zone, storage needs, the placement of the bath, and how the tiles and colour choices would shape the overall feel of the space.
Design and Project Management
Once we understood the customer’s specific needs, we moved into the design phase and mapped out a plan that suited the space. With walk-in showers, the details matter – screen sizing, drainage position, fall, and the way water is controlled in the space all need to be right. We also considered how the freestanding bath would sit within the room so it felt intentional, not squeezed into place.
As project managers, we coordinated all the moving parts and kept communication clear throughout. That included confirming product choices, checking lead times, scheduling trades, and making sure the customer always knew what was happening next. It is the approach we take on every installation – good planning, tidy execution, and a consistent standard from the first day through to handover.
Sourcing and Keeping the Project On Track
Partway through the process, there were complications with sourcing the customer’s preferred tiles. Rather than pushing ahead with a compromise, we worked through alternative options with them and agreed on a replacement that still delivered the look they wanted. The end result kept the design intent intact, including the herringbone finish that became one of the defining details of the room.
Importantly, the decision-making was handled quickly and carefully, which meant the installation remained on schedule and the bathroom was completed on time.
The Finished Result
The completed bathroom has a confident, colourful feel, with the freestanding bath immediately drawing the eye. The herringbone tiles give the room texture and movement – and, combined with a clean, modern walk-in shower, the layout is now ready and functional for everyday use.
Although there were minor setbacks along the way, the project finished exactly as planned, and the customer felt the result exceeded their expectations. It is a great example of what can be achieved when design, product knowledge and experienced installation all come together!
